RINGED PANAEOLUS

Order: Agaricales, Family Psathyrellaceae

CAP TAN, SHINY WHEN DRY, SHAPED LIKE HALF AN EGG

Cap: 3-9 cm wide; hemispheric to oval, becoming conical; tan; viscid when wet, shiny when dry

GILLS BROWN-BLACK, MOTTLED

Gills: attached; broad; whitish then brown-black; often mottled with white edges

STALK WHITISH WITH RING

Stalk: 8-18 cm long, 5-15 mm thick; enlarged base; whitish
Ring: membranous, evanescent, often absent, sometimes leaving fibrous zone

SPORE PRINT BLACKISH

Spores: 15-20 x 8-11 µm, elliptical, smooth with germ pore
